A
young psychiatrist visits an asylum, and as a test to see if he's good enough
to work there he has to interview four inmates, all with very strange stories
to tell.
In the
first story a man decides to kill his wife so he can be with his lover. After
chopping her up and wrapping the body parts in brown paper he stores them in
the fridge. When his lover arrives at the house she finds something terrifying.
Story two involves a tailor who's asked to create a suit that has very strict
rules to follow. Once he takes the finished item to the buyer a very dark
secret is discovered. Story three is about a woman arriving home from a mental
asylum after getting into trouble and blaming her friend who doesn't exist.
Once home her "friend" comes back and soon all hell breaks loose again. The
final story is also part of the framing story and involves a patient who
creates dolls and is convinced he can bring them to
life.
This
is a great British anthology movie that's often over looked when compared to
some of the other's like Dr Terror's House Of Horrors, The Vault Of Horror and
Tales From The Crypt. It has a wonderful cast including Peter Cushing, Robert
Powell, Britt Ekland, Charlotte Rampling, Herbert Lom and many more well known
faces. There's some fun twists in the stories, the acting from all is very good
and the stories range from good to great. The second one involving the tailor
and the suit is my favourite, I'm sure you'll all have your own
though.
The
framing story is one of the best of the anthology genre and I loved the way it
actually feeds into the final story. I'd definitely recommend this one to any
fan of British horror movies.
