Axe (1974)

(AKA: Lisa Lisa - California Axe Massacre)

A young woman lives in an isolated farmhouse with her paralyzed father. Their quiet lives are put in danger when three criminals on a murder spree arrive on the scene.

This low budget, slow moving grindhouse movie is a strange one indeed. It has a certain charm to it that keeps you watching even though the violence and gore is limited. Once banned as a video nasty in the UK it stayed on the list to become one of the infamous final 39. It can be slightly unplesant in places for sure but it's a mystery why it ended up on the list to begin with.

Leslie Lee stars as Lisa in her one and only lead role and she's pretty good and easy on the eye. Sadly she's refused to discuss her role in it for any DVD/Blu-ray releases which is a shame. The rest of the actors do a decent job too and there's a fairly nasty scene involving a shop worker and the villans involving a game of William Tell with an apple and a gun. It's not a film for everyone as many will probably just be bored, but if you like low budget movies then this is worth seeking out.
