A
young, very disturbed man digs up the body of his recently dead girlfriend and
takes her home. With the help of his equally strange housekeeper they embalm
the woman so he can keep her in his bedroom. His mental state quickly devolves
and soon kidnapping, murder and necrophilia are on his
mind.
Directed by Joe D'Amato this nauseating slice of euro horror
has been shocking people for many decades. A lot of people say it's far to
nasty to be entertaining and it's a rare case where you can see why. Lots of
graphic gore including stabbings, fingernails pulled out, decapitations,
cannibalism and disembowlment are all presented in unflinching detail. Joe
D'Amato once said he wanted to make a movie that will make people who watch it
vomit. He proably achieved that.
The
acting and script isn't much to write home about but it gets the job done, and
the whole thing does have a very sleazy feel to it and is often uncomfortable
to sit through. For those with strong stomachs only.
