As the dead rise and start to take over, a small group take refuge in a shopping mall. Their new, slightly more peaceful existence is soon disturbed by the arrival of a large biker gang and all hell breaks loose.

There are few horror movies that I find more entertaining than this one!. Sure, it has it's problems, some of it looks very dated now, some of the zombies look pretty silly and even Tom Savini has said that trying to make them look grey only for them to appear blue on camera wasn't a great choice. Also some of the acting from the zombies is often pretty silly. There's also some comedy like the whole pie fight scene that really didn't need to be in there at all. But overall none of it really spoils the experience and there's still so much fun to be had no matter how many times you watch it.

Despite it's obvious low budget Romeo's decsion to film in an actual mall was a great choice. Tom Savini is a legend when it comes to gore effects, but you have to admit that some of his work here isn't always great, again this was down to the low budget, but he would go on to create what I consider to be some the best, most realistic gore ever in the third movie of the series Day Of The Dead. As a pure zombie film I genuinely think Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters is better, scarier and has better zombies and gore, but again, if you're looking for pure entertainment then Dawn Of The Dead is a must see and it's one I'd highly recommend. I even know people who hate horror movies who I've shown this too, and they've loved it!.
