Ash travels to a cabin in the woods with his girlfriend. While there they find an old tape recorder but when the tape is played ancient demons are unleashed. With Ash's girlfriend dead Ash has to come to terms with being possessed, but when some people arrive at the cabin, including a young woman looking for her parents, they find Ash and a bloodied chainsaw and believe he murdered them.

The opening of this one is basically a recap of the first movie played out in a slightly different manner. After that though we get what many consider to be the best of the Evil Dead movies. Lots more humour, plenty of slapstick comedy, gallons of blood and some genuine scares all make this a must see. Bruce Campbell is back as Ash and goes all out this time with lots of fun physical comedy and action and is a joy to watch. The effects are great with plenty of jucy amputations, stabbings and beheadings to keep gorehounds happy.

There's plenty more fun and impressive camerawork from Sam Rami and overall the movie looks better made than the first. The first is more scary but this is more fun as a whole. Personally I still prefer the first movie but there's no denying that as sequels go this is one of the best. Highly recommended.
