In the
depths of winter mainland Britan is freezing, but on a small remote island just
off the northern coast the residents are suffering from an intense heatwave. A
scientist staying there thinks he has an answer but will anyone believe
him?.
First
off we have the paring of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and that's enough
for pretty much any horror fan to give this a watch. Secondly the filmmakers
did a great job of convincing you that there really was a heatwave even though
this was filmed in midwinter and the cast spent most of the time shivering
while filming the outdoor scenes.
It's
definitely a low budget film and it does look a bit cheap in places, but the
acting from all is great and I've always been a big fan of this movie back when
I first saw it in the good old days of VHS. I seem to be one of the few that
actually quite like the alien design, and I also like the slower pace it has.
Overall it's a fun, cheap sci/fi horror that's well worth more than a couple of
viewings.
