Night Of The Bloody Apes (1969)

A doctor tries to save his sons life by trying a revolutionary technique of transplanting a gorilla's heart into him. Things take a turn though when his son wakes only to be transformed into a violent human/gorilla monster.

A movie that somehow managed to find its way onto the UKs video nasty list, and even stayed there to become one of the final 39. This was due solely to the inclusion of real footage of open heart surgery. The rest of the gore in this one isn't great but we do get a scalping which was done by the creature pulling a wig off a bald mans head which is fun.

There's a sub plot involving a masked female wrestler and even a little bit of nudity but the acting isn't great and it's really only a movie to watch for the gore. I still quite enjoy it though and there's definitely a lot worse ways to spend 90 mins of your time. I'd recommend it to those who don't mind fairly slow moving low budget movies sprinkled with some fairly graphic gore here and there.
