American professor and occult sceptic John Holden travels to England for a conference and to expose a devil cult leaders powers as fake. After a series of strange events his scepticsm quickly vanishes when he realises he's been targeted for death.

Genuinely one of my favourite movies of all time, this is a masterclass of atmosphere and terror. Great performances from all involved, interesting dialogue, a great looking demon and some edge of your seat moments that still hold up today.

The English version is the one to watch as the American release under the Curse Of The Demon title was a cut and re-edited version. It's still worth a look though but doesn't have quite the same impact. All but one shot of the demon, the exception being the chase in the woods, was added post production without the consent or approval of director Jacques Tourner. I know some don't like the inclusion of it but it's such a cool creation that I'm happy it was used. A must see and highly recommended for any fan of occult horror.
