A sorcerer attempts to kill a group of people who have decided to have a party in his house so he can bring his wife back from the dead.

The story behind the making of this is far more interesting than the movie itself. Basically the footage involving the soecerer trying to revive his dead wife is from the original movie called Twisted Souls, then all the footage involving the group of friends in the house being attacked by various creatures was filmed later in an attempt to create a releasable film. There's a documentary on it that's well worth seeking out.

Watching Spookies is a strange experience because of how it's made but I still have a lot of fun with it. The effects are the meat of the piece and we get lots of good creations including the grim reaper, a giant spider woman, demons, witches, zombies and the muck men who rise from the dirt in the cellar and fart with every step. The gore is fine, the acting and dialogue isn't great but is fine for what it is and the visual effects, while looking dated, are still fun. This one comes highly recommended for anyone looking for a goofy creature feature to watch with friends and a few beers, and it's unlike anything you've really seen before.
