A
young woman who was sexually abused by her father as a child goes insane and
kills him. As a young woman she escapes the asylum and takes off to a small
town where she rents a room in a small diner. The owner has 12 pigs in a pen at
the rear and when the young woman starts to kill again the bodies are given to
the pigs to eat.
Directed by Mark Lawrence and staring his daughter Toni, it was
made as a way to show off her acting skills in the hope of gaining her more
work. This is actually a decent, low budget drive-in movie and worth checking
out. Sure the acting, script and direction isn't great but it has a certain
charm to it. Toni Lawrence is decent as Lynn Hart and a couple of the kills are
quite nasty.
The
13th Pig is the title of this directors cut but there are two alternate
versions with different start and endings, one of which shows Lynn as a child
leading up to the killing of her father. The UK release on VHS under the Pigs
title got into trouble during the video nasty panic in the early 80s. It was
never banned but the tagline "Pigs eat everything, even evidence" was probably
the cause of it's problems as the police have the nickname pigs here so, I
don't know, maybe they took offense. Go in with low expectations and you'll
find some decent entertainment here.
