After the discovery of a bizarre one eyed skull by a farmer in his field the children of a small 17th century village start acting strange. It becomes clear they've all started turning into devil worshippers and the skull may have something to do with it.

This classic British horror film was considered pretty strong stuff when it was released. It was cut by the BBFC for its cinema release and it can still pack a decent punch today. The cast and acting is great from all involved but it's Linda Hayden's performance as the menacing Angel Blake that steals the show!. The sets and costumes are also excellent too.

It's not really gory but some scenes like one girl having some devils skim removed from her thigh is quite wince inducing. There's some surprising mudity and a nasty rape scene where a young girl is attacked by a boy while other possessed kids watch and cheer him on. It was this scene that caused the censor to get their scissors out for it's theatrical release. It's now out fully uncut on DVD and Blu-Ray though so it can be enjoyed in all it's glory. A highly recommened movie for those looking for some real folk horror!.
