A newly wed young woman starts to become concerned by her husband's strange sexual fantisies, she seeks help from a lady named Carmilla. Soon the young woman is seduced and plunged into a world of violence and mutilation.

Based on the 1871 novella Camilla by Sheridan Le Fanu this wonderfully dreamlike movie is well worth seeking out!. I first saw this at the cinema and it was a film that stayed with me for a long time, partly due to the stunning Maribel Martín as the young bride Susan. The acting from everyone is good and some of the set pieces are well done. The gore is plentiful and looks great.

This makes a great double bill with 1971s Daughters Of Darkness, or maybe even a triple bill with 1970s The Vampire Lovers which was also based on the same novella. Overall this is well worth checking out for those looking for an intellegent vampire story.
