The Pit (1981)

A 12 year old boy is bullied at school, ignored by his parents and most of the locals think he's just plain weird. One day he discovers something very strange in the forest, a large pit full of strange creatures. He tells his secret to his teddy but believes the teddy is telling him what to do and soon all those who annoy him are lured to the pit with horrific results.

This strange little movie seemed to appear on VHS in pretty much every store back in the day, and yet judging by how often it's talked about it obviously wasn't rented out by many people. The acting is pretty good for the most part and the movie carries a very weird vibe all the way through it. It's not very gory which is a shame as it had the potential for some fun gory death scenes involving the pit creatures. It's surprisingly entertaining for the most part, although some may find the middle part a little slow moving. The creature effects are good and what little gore there is, is done quite well done. I hadn't seen this in years until I watched it again when I decided to do this site, and I've got to admit, I forgot how much I enjoyed this little oddity. Give it a watch if you haven't before.
