When people start dying in a small Cornish village the local doctor asks his professor friend to help him find out what's going on. They soon discover some of the recently dead walking around near an old abandoned tin mine. Upon further investigation it becomes clear that black magic and not a virus of some kind is the cause of the zombie outbreak.

One of the rare, actually I believe only zombie movie made by the legendary Hammer studios. This is a fascinating mix of black magic and zombie genres made with the typical Hammer style. The acting a really good, the sets are great, in fact some of the sets and many of the cast and crew also made The Reptile back to back with this one. There's lots of atmosphere and a couple of genuinely creepy moments, especially during a wonderful dream sequence that caused a few censor problems here in the UK. This may not be as fully entertaining or as gory as the zombie films of Romero and Fulci, but if you're a zombie fan then this is a movie that's well worth tracking down.
