A research team based at a station in Antarctica find themselves fighting for their lives when a shape shifting alien infultrates the camp.

There's little to say about this movie that hasn't been said hundreds of times already. It's a masterclass in atmosphere and suspense with a fantastic cast all doing a great job trying to figure out who's human and who isn't. This is edge of your seat stuff that keep you glued to the screen. We also get what is, for me at least, the pinnacle of practical effects from the legendary Rob Bottin. Even after many decades they still look as amazing and realistic as they did back in 82. The dog transformation, the head deatatching from a body and transforming into a spider like creature are so well done.

The downbeat ending may not be to everyones liking but I think it works really well. If you've seen it before then you'll already know what a classic this is, and for those who haven't then go and watch it now!. Cannot recommend this one enough.
