Two private investigators are hired by a woman to find her missing son. They break into his house only to discover a stack of VHS tapes. The female investigator watches the tapes while her partner searches the house but they're not alone.

The second in the VHS franchise features four stories. The first titled "Phase 1, Clinical Trials" is about a man who has his eye replaced after a car accident. The new eye implant is still in it's trial stages and he's informed he may experience some glitches but what he sees and experiences drive him to extreme measures to get the implant out of him. An okay story with a couple of creepy moments and a little bit of decent gore.

Story two "A Ride In The Park" features a cyclist riding through the woods with a camera attached to his helmet to record his journey. He's approached by a blood soaked woman who's begging for help but suddenly starts to vomit blood and dies. She's soon back as a zombie and attacks him causing him to return from the dead also. His hunger for human flesh and the carnage he causes are all caught on his helmet camera. This is a fun story and a pretty unique twist on the traditional zombie flick. It's packed with lots of fun gore and is well worth a watch.

Story three "Safe Haven" concerns a small film crew who manage to infultrate a cult to film a documentary. While filming some interviews they become very creeped out by the way the cult members are acting and upon further investigation one of the female crew members who's pregnant gets abducted. they then discover something truly horrifying lurking in the bowls of the building. One of my favourite stories in the whole franchise. This one is creepy, very gory, well made and has some excellent effects. Highly recommended.

Story four "Slumber Party Alien Abduction" features two brothers who attach a camera to their dog to film them having fun while their parents are away. They invite some friends over but the fun weekend turns to terror after aliens attack them and try and abduct them. I know a lot of people like this story but I think it's just okay. It has it's moments, especially near the end but it's one of those cases where the fast editing and overly shakey camerawork really annoyed me as you can't see shit half the time. Definitely not the worst in the franchise but for me it would rank quite low down.

The framing story "Tape 49" is fine for what it is and does feature a couple of quite creepy moments. Overall this is a good entry in the franchise with a couple of decent stories, one good one and an excellent one. The acting for the most part is good and most of the gore is good too even if some of the CGI blood looks crappy (as it nearly always does). Definitely worth a watch though.
