An English couple on holiday take a trip to a small island only to find all the children have gone feral and have killed nearly all the adults. Trapped on the island the couple must now fight for their lives.

Starting off with some horrific images of child victims of the holocaust and starving children, etc, this Spanish movie from director Narciso Ibáñez Serrador is a masterclass in creepy atmosphere and tense action. The acting from Lewis Flander as Tom and Prunella Ransome as the pregnant Evelyn is excellent, the script is very good too and the kids themselves come across as genuinely scary as they stalk and dispatch any surviving adults they find. The kills are not overly gory but are pretty brutal, and seeing a few of the kids get gunned down or beaten can be pretty disturbing. If you're someone who has a problem with child death in movies then this probably won't be for you, but if you're looking for a genuinely creepy, well made mix of horror and thriller elements then this is a must see. It's always been one of my favourite movies so of course it comes highly recommended.
