A young woman teams up with a reporter to try and track down her missing father. Their search leads them to a tropical island where they encounter a scientist who's trying to find out why the dead a coming back to life.

Lucio Fulci's iconic movie is, in my opinion, one of the best zombie films ever made!. The gore set pieces are still amazing even 50 years later (at the time of creating this page), the splinter in the eye scene, the throat ripping of Auretta Gay is still wonderfully jucy and seeing a group of zombies feasting on Olga Karlatos's corpse is amazing!. Add to that the bonkers scene of a zombie attacking and taking chunks out of a shark in the ocean is still a joy to behold. The fact they did this with a real stuntman and a real shark still blows my mind as it would never be done today unless it was some crappy looking CGI shark.

There's also some genuinely good atmospheric shots in here too, especially shots of the empty village with a lone zombie in the distance and the sight of zombies emerging from the darkness with the wind blowing their tattered clothes. The cast all do a good job with Richard Johnson being great as always. I highly recommend this movie to any fan of zombie films and Italian horror in general.
