Zombie Holocaust (1980)

(AKA: Zombi Holocaust - Dr Butcher M.D.)

My rating - 5/10

Directed by Marino Girolami and starring Ian McCulloch & Alexandra Delli Colli, an anthropologist teams up with a scientist to travel from New York to a remote island where they're first attacked by cannibals and then meet a mad doctor who's performing experiments on locals and turning them into zombies.

As a cannibal film it's no Cannibal Holocaust, and as a zombie film it's no Zombie Flesh Eaters, but there's something endering about this strange little flick. There's plenty of graphic gore throughout although some of it isn't exactly convincing. The acting and dialogue isn't great and it often doesn't make a lot of sense, but you'll have a lot of fun with this one!.

Filmed at the same time as Lucio Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters, it features some of the same actors and sets so if you watch them back to back you can play a drinking game where you take a shot every time you spot something. If you're a fan of low budget Italian horror and gore then I'd definitely recommend this one!.
